Paying for Your Prosthesis

What does a Prosthetic Limb Cost? Who Pays?

A prosthetic device is custom-built just for you. The cost will depend on the components that are used and the type of device you need. Your portion of the cost will depend on the type of insurance you have and what portion of that expense your insurance company has agreed to pay. Commonly, insurance will pay 80% of the allowable amount. They expect you to pay the remaining 20%. However, there is usually an annual maximum out of pocket amount, too.

It is important that you read your insurance policy’s prosthetic coverage section. We can help you with selecting plans that are more favorable to your specific needs. We can also explain some of the confusing aspects about insurance and paying for your prosthesis.

Please look for our FAQ section to find answers to many questions you may have.
